Do we really have the 'best legal recruitment market in years'? Why do people say that, for law firms, we have the best legal recruitment market in years? Is it because people are being laid off therefore there are skilled people out there ready to recruit? I'd be interested to hear from someone with knowledge of the profession who can explain this to me, thanks.
Does anyone here know what the traditional recruitment process is for legal immigrants in the USA? I meant that several highly educated, and highly skilled professionals come to the USA each year for white collar jobs. The USA gives these professionals H-1 visa for this purpose. Now, there is a Department of Labor that has a standard, sophisticated process to process these individuals' green card, which some of you are sadly unaware of. I was merely wondering if anybody was familiar with that process? Tracy, Apparently the business organizations of this country will disagree with you, cause they are the ones sponsoring the visas. And, by the way, last time I checked, this was a free country.
Grafton and Diamond recruitment agencies...Legal theives? I am with Diamond recruitment, and my sister is with Grafton. I should be earning over £10 an hour, instead I earn £5. This is because Diamond takes £5 an hour to be employed by them. I think this is so unfair! Apparently if you want to start a career, such as policing/fire fighter you MUST go through Grafton as companies appreciate the agency shortlisting and then paying employees through their pay roll. Do you think this is fair?

Recruitment law, is this legal? I work for an agency of a company (I'm employed by the agency and not the parent company). There is a senior post open which I am going through the selection process for and am at the final interview stage. Things are looking good but I have been told that there is a person that works for the parent company that is desperately wanting the job. He has not had to go through any of the recruiting phases that the other candidates have had to go for. A good source has told me that he and I are the prime candidates for the job. Is this legal? I am in the UK. Wayne, The other candidate is also looking to be promoted and therefore has gone through a selection process yes, but not for this role. It is quite a unique role and there a lot of stakeholders that are involved in the appointment, unlike the role he is in.
Can anyone provide me details of NGO's, govt agencies providing legal assistance to handicapped people? I am really depressed and in need of legal assistance to take up the issue of injustice meted to handicapped people in govt. recruitment matters. Is is legal for a corporation to hire new employees without a structured HR office? Would it be right for a corporation to hire without any proper basis and guidelines for hiring, recruitment, and placement of new employees? What are the legal impediments of this practice? Can someone highly qualified for a certain job file a case against a corporation of no HR office/officer who turned the applicant down because the in charge has the right to choose whoever he wants to place under his department. Im in New Zealand, would it be possible to pursue legal battele with overseas recruitment agency? While I was in Thailand teaching at one school, I was offered a job in August 2008 from UK comapny to work in one middle east country. In October 2008, I received Employment contract with visa approval form Minsitry of foreign affairs from that ME country. I travelled to New Zealand for medical and other requirement requested by UK agency that are saying now they cannot offer a job as they found my references unsatisfactory. What shall I do as I have no jobs for nearly 1 month bearing all travel expenses , accomodation in NZ and all expenses..Please give me good advise. I know the phrase in Contract clearly stating the point of satisfactory references but they also approved my travel to NZ.
Would a guy in his 40's have trouble getting hired as an administrative assistant? I am between jobs and having trouble getting hired in my profession (paralegal). I am a guy, in my late 40's and have a good grasp of various computer programs like Word, Excel, Access and Outlook Express. What legal claims are available for this situation? While looking for a job, a job applicant attended two interviews organised by two recruitment consultants. An offer was made to the applicant for both jobs. However, one of the offers was false, and was made to keep the applicant available. As a result, the applicant refused the 'real' job offer to accept the second false offer. By the time the applicant realised it was false, it was too late to accept the first offer. The applicant was subsequently unemployed for a further 3 months.

What foreign citizens are allowed to serve in the US military? I have heard that foreign citizens are allowed to serve in the US military. Indeed during the Vietnam era, non-US citizens resident in the USA and holding green cards were even conscripted. What is the legal basis for this? Does a foreign volunteer today have to be a green card holder or can they be on a student, work or even visitor visa? Can someone just fly into the US and report at a recruitment center like any foreign national can do with the French Foreign Legion? How long does it take to get US citizenship through serving in the American military?
Who is responsible for paying my my Visa? Is it me or the employer? I applied as a nanny for his child. But he wants me to pay for the visa and other necessary documents. Has anyone out there looking for a job noticed these types of ads that say, CONSTRUCTION WORK, or POSTAL WORK, or FIREFIGHTERS WANTED, and they all say they provide training, etc., and ask for people age 17+, willing to travel, in good physical condition, high school grads... and the 1-800 number is a regional navy recruitment office. anyone ever seen this? I know it happens not just in my local paper but all around the country from a quick google search. is it legal? opinions? by the way, the navy recruiter I talked to the first time I called when looking for a job said that they put "firefighters wanted" because anyone working on a ship learns how to put out a fire. Can I protest and inform people about a harmful business and avoid libel per se and tortious misconduct? The company I'm talking about is an LGAT (Impact in Utah). They run seminars or trainings that promise self-improvement, happier living, heightened self-esteem, etc. They mainly rely on former trainees to recruit new trainees, but sign a form saying they promise not to disclose what actually happens at the trainings with anyone who hasn't been, therefore people go in uniformed, only trusting already duped loved ones. When you're there you are humiliated, yelled at, sleep deprived, and otherwise broken down. After that they teach you that it is your old belief systems that caused you life to be so bad, and then they teach you there own convoluted philosophies. This company has already threatened legal action when others have spoke openly about them. Is it possible to legally hold a protest near the building on recruitment nights? Recruitment? In the Housing Department of a Council in Engalnd there are two team leaders. One of the team leader left the dept and the other was managing the two teams. The departmental manager advertised 1 team leader post as they already had one in place. However, at the time of recruitment they recruited two team leaders and moved the existing team leader to another project. Cutting out the recruitment agency? What is the legal status on cutting out the agency. Could you apply for a job go for the interview then a week later contact the comapny directly and offer services for a cheaper rate? Is there a legal point or is it just going the really upset the agencies and make you enemies?
