Is joining the navy possible when you have certain legal problems to fix?
i'm going to talk to a recruiter next week, the thing is i'm in a bit of a legal headache because of a physically abusive ex boyfriend, i still have a court date. obviously i'm not the one being accused. should i mention this to my recruiter? do i have to wait for all of this to be over to sign or can i sign anyway? would this look bad on my part to enlist? i know people answered last time but repost since my other question got deleted. sorry

- from personal experience i can tell you that a case like this may have you go to court even more times. until all of this is over you shouldn't enlist since you have to be available for court. whether or not it will look bad i honestly don't know, on one hand you are a victim of domestic violence and its not your fault, on the other they may consider you mentally weaker for putting up with abuse. i honestly don't know. go see the recruiter and tell him/her but keep it light
- I would mention it. You are the injured party so it shouldn't make a difference - if you have a court date set give that information at the same time.
- "do i have to wait for all of this to be over" YES!! No one can start an enlistment process into any branch as long as they have any type of on-going legal proceedings.
- you can talk to the recruiter, tell him your situation and the court date but will not be able to enlist until the case is closed. since you were the victim it will not effect your enlistment, but if i were you i would talk to a professional to see if i can handle it mentally since you were in a very traumatizing situation
- no you may not. any pending legal issues must be fully completed/case closed before you can. yes you must tell the recruiter.
