Was it legal for me to puddle splash a group of liberal protesters?

These liberals were out protesting on Main Street, in front of the Army recruiters office. There was a water main break earlier in the week in front of the recruiter (I went to inslist, but they were closed). But these liberals were all yelling and were dirty and so I drove by and SLAM, I soaked them with dirty street water! Served them righ, yes or no? But I got a ticket and want to fight it. Was I wrong or right?

  1. you did it on purpose, that's not legal.
  2. Yup, you're the type I want representing my country in uniform....not.
  3. We'll see how much you enjoy it when what goes around comes around..
  4. ur an idiot for admitting u did it on purpose.
  5. not sure - i'll bet the officer who ticketed you wrote a statute or ordinace number on the ticket - you'll have to research that on your own. but i bet it was funny as hell! :)
  6. What was the ticket for? It could have been illegal if you did it in an unsafe manner at the least. There are probably other statutes that may apply as well. If you couldn't avoid it (which I don't think is the case here), then it shouldn't be illegal.
  7. Think like a liberal. They are infringing on your freedom of speech!
  8. If you did it intentionally, then you are wrong....but, if you are going to fight it, then it's best to let the judge decide.
  9. Fight the ticket. It's not your fault there was a puddle in the street that's the city's fault. Ask for all other example of prescident where people were arrested for driving into puddles. You happened to hit a puddle that wasn't supposed to be there, not your fault. Go with Not Guilty and not intentional. BTW I would have loved to have seen this.
  10. Perfectly legal. It was an accident, obviously!
  11. I don't think this happened.
  12. The legality must make way for the morality of the incident.
  13. You were wrong. This is America and they had a right to protest. It scares me to think you'll be enlisting, you seem like the kind of person who would think it was funny to gun down a bunch of innocent people because they said something you didn't believe in.
  14. childish yes..why bother,instant karma?
  15. No, absolutely not. It is their right to protest, especially outside of a government office. Of course they're yelling, they're protesters. What you did was completely amoral and un-American. I know you think you're some kind of great patriot for fighting the liberals etc... but I don't know if you've read the Constitution, that oh-so-convenient document which many of you pseudo-Conservatives seem to ignore which guarantees the inalienable right to protest peacefully (yelling is not a matter of peace, violence is, and as long as they were not violent they were being peaceful). It's people like you who make me ashamed to call myself a conservative. True conservatives believe in a strict interpretation of the constitution. They don't care about gay marraige and abortion and all that crap. That was an invention of the GOP, not the conservative movement. We believe in lower taxes, the right to bear arms, and the protection of our fundamental rights. People like you only serve to hurt that. Dispicable. Now, as for a legal opinion on your situation, while you were definitely wrong, it's very difficult for a judge or a police officer to actually prove that you did that intentionally (unless you admitted it to the officer, in which case you're screwed). You can generally argue that you briefly lost control of the car, etc...or that you just didn't see the puddle and unfortunately drove into it. However, that too would be immoral. Remember that you will be under oath, and are required to tell the truth. Lying to get out of it is not only a moral issue, but also perjury which is a much more serious crime. Best advice: don't do it again and don't fight the ticket, you'll have a hard time getting out of it and still believing you are right.
  16. How much money you got? O.J. got away with a double murder, but he had lots of money. Michael got away with molesting little boys, but Michael had money. Teddy got away with negligent homicide and fleeing the scene, but Teddy had money and clout. Hillary got away with murder and a federal cover-up, but Hillary had money and clout. Get a good lawyer and let him do all the talking. I hear John Edwards is good. EDIT: I just read a couple of answers posted while I typed and I can't stand it. Those liberals had a right to protest (freedom of expression). But you DON'T have a right to express how you feel about what they're doing. That's hypocracy at it's finest. How does splashing water on someone differ from throwing red paint on someone wearing a fur coat? How does that differ from throwing a drink in someone's face? As usual, the 1st Amendment only applies to LIBERALS. Without some sort of assault where someone was or could have been hurt, there's no crime here. You're freedom of expression is just as protected and just as important. Actions have consequences. If you're going to express yourself, be responsible enough to accept that others are free to oppose you.
  17. it may hv been a test from god to see if you should really enlist,it was a test to see if you really understood why you should enlist under the american flag and you failed, you splashed water on one of the tenets you supposedly would be fighting for. thus you were punished .personally i think they should drop the ticket in exchange for your passage to iraq
  18. what was the ticket for?? if it was for speeding, then you deserve the ticket ((if you were speeding)) if the ticket was for purposely splashing people with water then you deserve it. From what you've written I see no justification for what you did .. Even if what you say about them being dirty is taken to be true, you then soaked them with dirty street water. In my opnion, you were wrong (and so would anybody else be if they had soaked you with dirty street water).
