Recruitment?
In the Housing Department of a Council in Engalnd there are two team leaders. One of the team leader left the dept and the other was managing the two teams. The departmental manager advertised 1 team leader post as they already had one in place. However, at the time of recruitment they recruited two team leaders and moved the existing team leader to another project. Is this legal to advertise one post and recruit two people? or is unlawful? if there are any lawyer out there I can speak to please provide your email or telephone number as I need some advice.

- I would suggest you need to look at my answer to the question "definition of trade unions". And if you are not a member of one, the question should be, are you surprised you have been screwed? Perhaps you should ask why you have been f*cked over! Are you sh!t at your job? Or do you stand up for yourself too much? Again it goes back to a union who could look after you. ! ITS NOT COMMUNISM! ITS NOT TREASON! I ITS A RIGHT GIVEN TO EVERY WORKING PERSON IN THE CIVILISED WORLD. USE YOUR RIGHTS OR LOSE THEM
- I dont quite see the problem here, sorry, did you wish to apply for the position but were put off by there only being one post available? I dont think it is against the law advertising one post and recruiting for two, if there were two excellent candidates and the current team leader agreed with their move to another department. I can see no reason for the company to put up the same advert again when they already have candidates who have applied for the position and who posess the required skills to perform the job. I assume you had the opportuinity to apply for the first one,and so cant seem to see what you are aggrievd about...sorry more details would help me answer better..although i am no lawyer or legal expert
- Are you the team leader who was moved onto another project and replaced by the 2nd recruit when there was originally only meant to be one? No, it isn't illegal to advertise one post and recruit 2 people. The place I'd want to ask questions is around what happened to the team leader who was moved. Was the new role essentially the same as the old one - was it on the same level and was the nature of the work esentially the same - and was the place of work the same? Of course people can be moved round at work, but not if they suffer detriment as a result and not if the move is not discussed and agreed with them and is fundamentally different. Best thing to do would be to ring ACAS and chat it through on the phone with an advisor.
- no its not inlawful
